Your welcome Lilly,
I left Walmart when they refused to give a mgmt position after passing the test that they kept bugging for me to take - guess they were not expecting for me to pass it in my first try - I did work in the electronics dept for 2 years. Now I do Security work (another spot that they claimed I did not qualify for even though I had 5 yrs as a security supervisor) I make almost double the money now and recruited some employees that I thought would be good guards. If Walmart doesn't want to help you move up in the ranks then it is time to move out. Have fun and enjoy the weekend.

Good morning friends. Although I have popped in most days to respond to friends’ comments, messages, blogs etc I have not been able to send comments for some time. I have been working on a new project, not difficult but time consuming and demanding of full concentration. It is progressing well so I’m taking a break to greet my friends. I’ve missed the daily “chat” but I see many others have also been absent for some time.

We are in the last month of winter, but we have only had two days cold enough to wear more than a light cardy. I hope that doesn’t mean we’ll have a hotter than usual summer! If so, I might decide to migrate south!

My thought for the day is from Albert Einstein: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

My wish for the day: The discovery of a new ability and the joy of success - especially if after initial failure.

Have a great day!

I’ve been considering the motto on my desk calendar today: “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”

I agree with the saying, but I came to the conclusion that we are better off than candles. When we “light” or encourage others, we lose nothing but, as distinct from the candle, we actually GAIN. I would even say that we cannot brighten another’s day without brightening our own at the same time.

So I’d like to pass on to you a little brightness. You help to brighten my day when I “see” you here, read your comments and blogs and sometimes have a little chat. Thank you for being you. You are special.

Please have a bright and cheerful coming week. Accomplish your desires and your goals. Make time to enjoy some “you” time - and happy yuwie-ing!

Well, today is officially the first day of winter here in Queensland where our slogan is “beautiful one day and perfect the next.” Well the temperature today has been 26*C (about 80*F) It won’t get much lower during the days for the rest of winter, but we will get cooler mornings and nights. This is a great holiday destination if anyone is thinking of travelling!

Today, while messaging with a good friend here, we spoke of a dream of meeting. I’d love to meet some of my yuwie friends who live half a world away. Is it possible? I really don’t want to travel overseas again. I’ve done enough of that so I’ll leave it to the younger ones to come here.

That reminds me of a quote by Mark Twain:
¶ Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Have a good week. Happy yuwie-

I leave tomorrow morning for Sydney, Adelaide and Port Lincoln where I will be presenting workshops regarding children’s ministry. I think I am almost ready, with just the last things to pack in the morning. I will be away for one week on a very tight schedule, so I will not have time to log in to yuwie or anywhere else.

As most of you know, I love my work, so here are a few quotes about work that appeal to me. Do you agree with them, or do you have a different outlook on work?

¶ Find a job you love doing and you’ll never have to work a day in your life

¶ The true way to happiness is to love your work and find your pleasure in it

¶ Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun.

¶ The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more

¶ The secret of joy in work is contained in one word - excellence. To do something well is to enjoy it

Happy yuwie-ing while I am away.

See you in one week.

Take care.

Today has been dark and dismal, so unusual for sunny Queensland. My office has four large windows and plenty of light but I have needed to use lights today for the first time in memory. It has rained almost non stop. We need the rain, so I am thankful, but I also find it slightly depressing.

I am hoping it will be clear tomorrow, for that is when we are driving about 90 minutes south to visit a good yuwie friend for the first time. Barb and I have been trying to meet up for ages, but I haven’t been able to slot it into the calendar. While I am the driver and rain doesn’t bother me, my husband doesn’t like travelling in the rain, so I’m hoping for a fine day. I know meeting Barb & Paul will be wonderful, but it would be nice to have some sunshine as well.

I hope you had a happy Easter and that the coming week will be full of sunshine for you.

Take care.

I’m slowly catching up with my work after taking days off to look for a car. At least I’m thrilled with the choice - a Hyundai Elantra 2 litre - the FIRST one we looked at!. I haven’t driven it much, apart from going grocery shopping and to Church but I hope to take it to Maryborough (a bit over an hour’s drive south) to meet a yuwie friend very soon. For those who don’t allow html the pic is in my Random shots album. So, thoughts about driving:

¶ It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road
¶ Road sense is the offspring of courtesy and the parent of safety
¶ A tree never hits an automobile except in self defence
¶ Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer

Take care! Enjoy your day.

The humidity continues. This morning it is 92%. The air is heavy and I am wet all over with perspiration. I am sure all my friends in Qld join me in asking friends in USA & UK to blow some cool air over here.

Is everyone ready for the Bloggie Øscars? Do you have an exciting virtual partner? This year is going to be bigger than last year and heaps of fun. Fran deserves many accolades for the way she ENCOURAGES yuwie-ites and introduces us to quality bloggers.

Some thoughts on encouragement from Mr Anonymous:

¶ When we all help one another, everybody wins

¶ Remember, man does not live on bread alone: sometimes he needs a little buttering up

¶ A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success

¶ Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you.

Be encouraged.

Happy yuwie-ing!

I Miss You Comments

While many of my friends in UK and USA are freezing and wishing for an early Spring, I am sitting here sweltering. Even with two fans going full speed, the water (perspiration) is dripping down my neck from my hair and my clothes are stuck to me. Storms threaten but come to nothing, so the humidity remains 80-90%. Wouldn’t it be great if we could exchange just some of our weather and we’d all be in ideal climates?

We can’t exchange weather but we can exchange greetings, so I’m wishing you a very happy and fulfilling week ahead. Here’s some good advice from Mr Anonymous:

¶ What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

¶ Not everything that counts can be counted - and not everything that can be counted, counts.

¶ The person that loses his conscience has nothing left worth keeping.

¶ If I never had a bad day, how would I know when I was having a good day?

Happy yuwie-ing!

Sports:I'm originally from Chicago, and as a born and raised city girl I am a life long Bears, White Sox and CUBS fan. You can take the girl out of the city, drag her 2500 miles from her heart, but the city girl remians. I LOVE California. It's were I live and will die. I'd never, ever leave here, BUT, if I could spend a month or so each year back in Chicago, I'd do it in a heartbeat. chicago Pictures, Images and Photos Photobucket

Books:Photobucket I DO read. I work weekends in a one person office, so I used to read a book in about to weekends. Now that we have DFSL in the office (as opposed to dial up), I find myself on the computer, reading the newspaper, and blogging. Does reading the newspaper count?
Heroes/Idols:Photobucket Some of my favorite "people" in this life, are animals. As a kid I had parakeets. I loved my birdies so much. I wasn't the best student as a kid, and as a punishment Mom would take the TV and radio away from me, and I was not allowed to play outside, so my budgies became my close pals. As an adult I have had cats, dogs, rabbits, a Rex named Thumper, and a Lop Ear named Bun Bun, a crow, named....CROW, un named lizzards, a chicken named Teela, Cockatiels, a rat named Hammy, and all kinds of tropical fish. The cats names, there are far too many of them to list. My dogs, Shadow, Neener, and Lady, all Afghan hounds. A wonderful pug, chihuahua named Paco, and my current pooch, named Rozee. NOne of my pets were purebred. They were either rescue animals, or they came from a shelter. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
