(AGE-ACTIVATED ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER)
Dear God, I thought you should be the first to know! I was recently diagnosed with AAADD (Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder). In case this is new to you here's how it goes: I decide to do the laundry, start down the hall and notice the newspaper on the table.
"I'm going to the laundry," I tell myself, "but First I'm going to read the newspaper."
After that I notice the mail on the table. Okay, I'll just put the newspaper in the recycle stack, but first I'll look through the pile of mail and see if there are any bills I need to pay. Yes! Now where is the checkbook? I wonder.
Look at that-the empty glass from yesterday on the coffee table.
Time to look for the checkbook, I chide myself. I used to get those bills in the mail by the due date. But first I need to put the glass in the dishwasher.
I head for the kitchen, look out the window and notice my poor flowers need a drink of water, so I put the glass in the sink and head for the watering can-that is, until I notice the remote control for the TV lying on the kitchen counter.
"What's it doing there?" I ask aloud-though I'm in the house alone! "I'll just put it away," I murmur, 'But first I need to water those plants."
As I head for the door, I step on the dog. Poor thing. He's hungry. Needs to be fed. Okay, I'll put the remote away then water the plants but first I'll feed the dog.
Suddenly it's dark outside. The day is over.
"Where did it go, Lord?"
The laundry in not done, newspapers are still on the floor, the glass is still in the sink, bills are still piled on the table, the checkbook is still lost, and the dog chewed on the remote control!
And when I try to figure out why I did not accomplish anything I set out to do, I'm completely baffled because as you know Lord, you watched me- I was busy all day!
I realize my condition is serious. I need to get help, but first, I think I'll check my e-mail.
ON SECOND THOUGHT, what I really need to do first is check in with you. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours"
